Many teams have become a star over their team logo on their jersey. These stars represent the World Cup which the country has won so far. This rule is also heard in football. If you look closely at a jersey of teams like Brazil or Germany, you will find the same stars. There are 5 stars in Brazil while 4 in Germany, every World Cup shows the tournament which the country has won so far.

India has won two ODIs in 1983 and 2011 and a T-20 World Cup in 2007, so three stars on their jersey show the triumph of these three trophies. Similarly, Australia's team jersey also has 6 stars and the Indian team is about 3 stars short.
